I'll include my system specs and PS specs below. in fact, CC and CC 2014 seem to take the same exact time. I have run all of the test files you have posted and still haven't come across and delays. I have a lot of time on my hands and would like to help find this bug you are talking about. I'm currently running a test on my fonts as I noticed one time a bad font set was causing a ton of my problems before in Photoshop CS6. I do have a little over 5600 fonts loaded on my system which may cause a bit of a bottleneck when loading but it used to be once it loaded the fonts Photoshop would do fine after that. Now both CC and CS6 are running slower and CC is almost at a standstill. Intel 530 - 260GB Solid State Drive for Operating System, Programs & scratch diskģTB Toshiba 7200rpm 64mb cache for storage and scratch diskģTB Seagate External connected via usb 3.0 & used as a Scratch diskĪnd CS6 and CC were both running extremely smooth before installing the new update for CC 2014 I'm running Windows 8.1 professional 64bit Also another issue I'm having when it does work briefly is that Adobe CC automatically changes my fonts as I'm scrolling through the list of fonts rather than waiting for me to actually click on a font I want to use. It takes forever to even allow me to try and open a document as after Adobe CC 2014 loads it just sits there not letting me choose / click on any of the menu items. I am also experiencing super duper long lag and sometimes full on crashes with Adobe CC 2014.

Each citation is followed by a brief (usually about 150 words) descriptive and evaluative paragraph, the annotation. A few sentences of general summary followed by several sentences of how you can fit the work into your larger paper or project can serve you well when you go to draft. The annotated bibliography is a list of citations to books, articles, and documents. You can focus your annotations for your own needs. However, if you are writing an extensive analysis of each source, you'll need more space. If you're just writing summaries of your sources, the annotations may not be very long. The lengths of the annotations can vary significantly from a couple of sentences to a couple of pages. The annotations: The annotations for each source are written in paragraph form. For more help with formatting, see our MLA handout. The bibliographic information: Generally, though, the bibliographic information of the source (the title, author, publisher, date, etc.) is written in either MLA or APA format. The format of an annotated bibliography can vary, so if you're doing one for a class, it's important to ask for specific guidelines. You may not ever get your annotated bibliography published, but as a researcher, you might want to look for one that has been published about your topic. They provide a comprehensive overview of everything important that has been and is being said about that topic. To help other researchers: Extensive and scholarly annotated bibliographies are sometimes published. By reading and responding to a variety of sources on a topic, you'll start to see what the issues are, what people are arguing about, and you'll then be able to develop your own point of view. Writing an annotated bibliography can help you gain a good perspective on what is being said about your topic. So, a very important part of research is developing a thesis that is debatable, interesting, and current. The purpose of research is to state and support a thesis. To help you formulate a thesis: Every good research paper is an argument. At the professional level, annotated bibliographies allow you to see what has been done in the literature and where your own research or scholarship can fit. You begin to read more critically instead of just collecting information. Just collecting sources for a bibliography is useful, but when you have to write annotations for each source, you're forced to read each source more carefully. To learn about your topic: Writing an annotated bibliography is excellent preparation for a research project. Why should I write an annotated bibliography? If you're doing this for a class, you should get specific guidelines from your instructor. Your annotated bibliography may include some of these, all of these, or even others. Was this source helpful to you? How does it help you shape your argument? How can you use this source in your research project? Has it changed how you think about your topic? Reflect: Once you've summarized and assessed a source, you need to ask how it fits into your research. Is it a useful source? How does it compare with other sources in your bibliography? Is the information reliable? Is this source biased or objective? What is the goal of this source?įor more help, see our handouts on evaluating resources. Assess: After summarizing a source, it may be helpful to evaluate it.What are the main arguments? What is the point of this book or article? What topics are covered? If someone asked what this article/book is about, what would you say? The length of your annotations will determine how detailed your summary is.įor more help, see our handout on paraphrasing sources. Summarize: Some annotations merely summarize the source.Depending on your project or the assignment, your annotations may do one or more of the following. Therefore, an annotated bibliography includes a summary and/or evaluation of each of the sources. A bibliography usually just includes the bibliographic information (i.e., the author, title, publisher, etc.).Īn annotation is a summary and/or evaluation. Bibliographies are sometimes called "References" or "Works Cited" depending on the style format you are using. DefinitionsĪ bibliography is a list of sources (books, journals, Web sites, periodicals, etc.) one has used for researching a topic. And once you see names like IKEA, Nike, Absolut Vodka, Gillette, Red Bull, Louis Vuitton, Calvin Klein, Supreme, FedEx you’ll understand why Futura is such an influential typeface.Ĭlassified as Didone or modern, Bodoni is heavily influenced by the typeface from 18th century businessman and type designer John Baskerville. Talking about influence, am I right?įrom the beautiful typographic interludes in Wes Anderson movies to dynamic Nike billboards with inspiring phrases set in Futura, this typeface family can do it all. Over the years the Futura has grown to a large number of different styles and that’s one the reasons why it’s used by so many different brands and you’ll likely see something in Futura every single day. It has heavy Bauhaus influences and has become one of the biggest sans-serif typefaces ever. Futura is a geometric sans-serif typeface designed by Paul Renner and released back in 1927. Based on handwriting with a pen, serif or old-style typefaces tend to be more legible for larger amounts of text and are still very popular for book publishers around the world.ĭior, Abercrombie & Fitch, Google (before the redesign) and Macintosh are just a couple of large brands that have used Garamond for their logo but as we said this typeface is mostly used for body text and book printing and because Garamond has become the go-to typeface for these kind of publications we had to put this typeface at the start of this selection.Īnother typeface that can be seen used by brands all over the world. So next time you’re reading a book, there’s a great chance that it’s being set in Garamond. Nowadays it’s one of the most used typefaces for book printing and body text. Garamond is with a doubt one of the oldest typefaces being used today in modern design and software as it’s based on old roman lettering designs by Claude Garamond, sixteenth-century Parisian engraver. Nowadays you could even be criticized by the design community for using Helvetica as it could look like a lack of effort and creativity but this typeface definitely deserves the top spot in this selection. It has almost become a movement on its own as design students often see Helvetica as the synonym or alternative meaning of a sans-serif. Jeep, Lufthansa, 3M, Panasonic, American Apparel, Target, JCPenny, Skype, The North Face and so many others. The list of most famous logos that are built with Helvetica is something truly remarkable and becomes pretty recognizable once you have a good look at Helvetica. It’s been influenced by the famous 19th century typeface Akzidenz-Grotesk and has evolved into multiple weights, widths and sizes as well as matching designs for a range of non-Latin alphabets. Without a doubt one of the biggest and beloved typefaces ever made, Helvetica (or Neue Haas Grotesk) is a sans-serif typeface developed in 1957 by type designers Max Miedinger and Eduard Hoffmann. We’re not ranking these based on taste as that is pretty subjective and different for each of us but what are those biggest, most influential typefaces from the last centuries that have shaped graphic design to what it is right now? Let’s have a look. Over centuries there have been some typefaces that stood the test of time and proven themselves to be one of the greatest typefaces ever made. Usually the differences aren’t that far apart but you get the point, typography matters. Turning an adorable ‘You’ll always be mine’ message in a cute, curly font into something completely creepy when it’s made with a style that would be used on a poster for a horror movie. You’ve probably seen those ‘fonts matters memes’ of the same text set in two completely different fonts. Because not only does the actual message have an important role in conveying a certain message, but what to think about the type of style that message is made with. Typography is such an important factor in design and communication in general. Went and saw this last night and I actually had fun. He's framed and moves exactly how I imagine Waluigi would in the Mario movie. But especially after that airplane scene, it's established this movie doesn't take itself seriously at all so it's not a big deal lolĪlso Illumination has Waluigi's body and movements down perfectly with the Wild Knuckles character in this movie lol. I know he'd probably be dead by the time Despicable Me 4 takes place, but I'd love to see him again in that film, somehow.īiggest flaw to me was the final fight + how useless the kung fu side plot was, when what they never use 99% of what they were taught and just pull the super powerful freak-out mode out of their ass. Highlights were Gru and Wild Knuckles, I liked their dynamic. Don't think I would rewatch this one though. The callforwards to the first Despicable Me was the bulk of my enjoyment here, to be honest. Fun cameos and I got pretty much all of the references/cameos despite not having watched DM1 in a loooong time (want to rewatch it now). Especially if you're a fan of the first Despicable Me, as they tie things back to that one in this prequel. It's nothing groundbreaking but it's fun, mildly entertaining and worth a watch. Here we get a paralleled dynamic, but it's not fleshed out nearly as well.Ħ/10 and what pushed it over the 5 was the banging 70's or 80's exclusive soundtrack. But one thing that makes Despicable Me shine is building the relationship between Gru and the kids. Which is kinda like a minions thing, where everything just ends up working out for them. I don't feel like any of the objectives or arcs in the movie were well earned. Wasted climax IMO.Īlan Arkin is doing his thing and the only side cast member who's not under-utilized. But we focus so solely on four specific minions. Like, the whole point of minions is there's a fuckton of them, and this is the minions movie. It is insane to me that when Belle said at the end, "You and what army?" that they didn't get all the minions there for that scene. The way it comes together is both not super interesting and very predictable. The plot doesn't need to be up for best screenplay or whatever, but the way it is it's just an excuse to have this fun. Steve Carrell is really one note here, no one has a very interesting arc, the fun casting of JCVD and Yeoh and Lundgren and Trejo all feels wasted because we're focused on minions who speak baby spanish. It works because we all know minions are kinda dumb, not just in concept but they aren't smart creatures, so it's fun to just do all this dumb fun stuff with them.īut, when I think of what's wasted here it's kind of a shame. The minions song renditions, the James Bond opener, the hilarious casting of the villains including JCVD playing a Frenchman with a lobster claw named Jean Clawed, and the dumb humor. It laid the foundation for why Gru would "turn good" later in his life much more seamlessly.ĭefinitely at its best when it's having fun. That paralleled how Gru charged in to Vector's lab to save the 3 kids, perhaps subconsciously because he was thinking "what would my favorite villain do if kid me was in trouble?". Or how Wild Knuckles risked his life trying to selflessly save Gru from the supervillains. In particular, how he became Wild Knuckles' emotional support, when he was all alone and demotivated. Rather, from a really early age he learned the importance of being part of a team and not alone.Īnd he learned the concept of "found family" early on in life too. So for example, Gru wasn't just a narcissistic supervillain who randomly fell in love with 3 orphans. But I thought this added some depth / believability to the first Despicable Me for example (which me and my daughter watched last weekend), and some of the choices Gru makes there. I do prefer the family cuteness of Gru and his kids in the Despicable Me series. It’s true when they say that practice makes perfect.
